My Granpa - 1948
This is my Granpa, from about 1948. He passed away when I was nearly 12, so I only have faint memories of him. I remember him as a clown for the Lions Club, as my Grandpa who thought that I could do no wrong, as a strong man of the community. I know from looking through old albums with my Granma that he has numerous commendations from past presidents, governors, and mayors.
I still miss him.

Always Wear A Baseball Cap
I had quite the weekend, friends. I attended my first hackathon, which was a whirlwind experience. A friend who knew I went to design school (and maybe didnt know that I dropped out?) asked if I could do UI/UX for the weekend. Im not sure sure why I agreed because I knew absoultely nothing about either of those things. Probably had something to do with the fact that there was money involved? Nonetheless, I downloaded a free trial of a program Id never used before and set out to do the (seemingly) impossible. I havent challenged myself in a very long time so overcoming those obstacles was enough in its own way. Though we didnt win, a lot of experienced designers and developers complimented my work so Id say the weekend wasnt a total loss.
After a long weekend of almost no sleep, theres nothing like putting on some comfy clothes and grabbing a hot cappuccino. Oh, and cant forget that baseball cap because when youre this mentally exhausted, theres no time for good hair days. You win some, you lose some.xo, e.m.
