Dropbox Review and History

Dropbox is a web-based data provider service operated by Dropbox, Inc. network storage systems use Dropbox that allows users to store and share data and files with other users across the internet using data synchronization. Dropbox was founded in 2007 by graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi with initial capital is obtained from Y Combinator.

Dropbox provides services either free or paid, each with varying benefits. The Dropbox is also launching a "Dropbox for Teams", a service of Dropbox which is devoted to business groups or other groups who need services to control the centralized administration, bills, etc. "Dropbox for Teams" remain available on the web site, but the price offered is different with other Dropbox service.

When compared with other, similar service Dropbox offers a relatively large number of users, with the use of a variety of operating systems, both for mobile devices and the desktop. There are different versions for various operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux (official or unofficial). And there are also different versions for mobile devices, including Android, Windows Phone 7, iPhone, iPad, WebOS, and Blackberry, and web-based clients. Dropbox uses financial models Freemium, and services available to provide 2 GB of free online storage. Those users who recommend Dropbox to others can increase storage capacity up to 8 GB. The main competitors of Dropbox, among others, Mediafire.com,box.net, CloudMe, FilesAnywhere, CrashPlan, Egnyte, iCloud, Mozy, and SugarSync, SpiderOak, TitanFile, Ubuntu One, the Wuala, Windows Live SkyDrive and ZumoDrive.

Founder of Dropbox, Drew Houston gained the ideas for Dropbox after his USB Drive a couple of times is left behind when he was a student at MIT. He said that the services available when it was troubled by the use of the internet that is not maximized, the size of large data, the number of errors and mistakes, as well as cumbersome and confusing to many people. He then began to create something for himself, but then realized that this could benefit other people having the same problem. Houston then set up Dropbox, Inc. in 2007, and not long after getting the initial funding from Y Combinator. Dropbox is officially launched at TechCrunch50 event, an annual Technology Conference in 2008.

Due to the existence of a dispute concerning trademarks between Evenflow (company that includes Dropbox) and Proxy, Inc., the official domain name of Dropbox is getdropbox.com "" until October 2009, and then finally they managed to get their domain name at this time, "dropbox.com".

In December 2010 market share Reports, OPSWAT report that Dropbox has mastered 10.41% of the Backup Client markets around the world, based on figures for the installation of Dropbox.

In May 2011, Dropbox make deals with mobile service providers from Japan, Softbank and Sony Ericsson. One part of the agreement is Dropbox will be available on their mobile devices. A year earlier, in May 2010, users of Dropbox in China's difficulty in accessing Dropbox. Not long after, Dropbox confirmed that they have been blocked in China. When you look at the fact that much of the censorship in China occurred at a popular service and have big names, then this may be evidence of how rapid the popularity of Dropbox and the number of users in the international sphere.

And in October 2011, Dropbox has had more than 50 million users. Dropbox has received venture capital funds with a total of $ 257,2 million from several investors, including Y Combinator, Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners.
ased on speculation, the value of the Dropbox reached more than $ 1 billion. TechCrunch, VentureBeat, Business Insider and the Financial Post also estimate the future value of the Dropbox can reach $ 5 to $ 10 billion.

Annual income from the Dropbox reached $ 240 million in 2011. Dropbox is based in San Francisco, and is funded by Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, and Amidzad. Starting from mid-2009, they started issuing new features incrementally serves to measure consumer interest in the technique, called the Lean Startup.

Dropbox offers a free account with 2 GB of data capacity and a paid account with a capacity of 50 GB and 100 GB, special group and account data with a capacity of 1 TB or more. Either free or paid account has exactly the same, the difference is the amount of storage capacity that is offered. Provides free accounts for users takes a lot of cost to the Dropbox, but although Dropbox continues to provide facilities for a free account, since it is able to provide many advantages for Dropbox. Drew Houston, Dropbox has been CEO of the pass that:

"The growth of our many caused by promotion, Word of mouth or viral. So free users are still very useful: we can grow by leaps and bounds, and they introduced the Dropbox to people who might want to pay "
"Choosing the right duration was difficult, and people keep different data in their Dropbox, a lot of users who start using a paid account after you have a free account for a long time."

In October 2011, Forbes announced that Dropbox has had 50 million users, of which 96% of his using a free account.
In some short time, Dropbox operates an affiliate program which facilitates third parties, i.e. customers of Dropbox, get a little injection of funds from the income of Dropbox. But the program was terminated on November 5, 2009, as it does not give good results. Dropbox also provides the following: description

"We believe that our efforts as a company is better spent on improvements to the product and providing Dropbox features that our customers need."
"Because we are just a small company, we have to be very selective about what projects we are working on, and the affiliate program sounds is not a wise choice to our resources."

In 2009, Dropbox is implementing a program references that can encourage users to tell their friends about the Dropbox. This referral Program has two sides that encourages users to share info about Dropbox: people who sign up for Dropbox referral links through getting more data capacity than usual, and your registration (which provide reference links) too get more storage capacity. Based on what was said in Houston Drew Startup Lessons Learnt Conference on April 23, 2010, the referral program was inspired by the Paypal Sign Up Bonus program. This resulted in a Referral Program is a huge success, and permanently increasing the number of applicants up to 60%, with the number of the reference accounts by 35% upon registration on a daily basis. 30 days prior to presentation at the Conference, Dropbox users estimate that they have sent 2.8 million invitations referrals to their friends.

Either server or desktop clients Dropbox are written in Python. Dropbox uses Amazon's S3 storage system for storing data; Although Houston has stated that Dropbox may change to other storage services provider someday. Dropbox also use SSL to transfer and store data synchronization via encryption AES-256.

Dropbox client allows users to put any data into a file, which can then be linked with internet service Dropbox and the computers and devices that are owned by other users, which also has a client Dropbox. Users can also upload data manually via a web browser. Dropbox can be an alternative of sneakernet (physical transportation via removable media), and other traditional forms of data transfer, such as FTP or e-mail attachments.

Download & Try Windows 8

Computer user've heard of Microsoft's latest operating system is still in early stages of development. And demonstration of circulating rumors on the internet, I managed to collect a variety of information and conjecture about what Windows 8 will be like. My conclusion from these rumors are:

Metro will be based UI style.
Recommended specs are proved to be lower than Windows 7.
Desktop to be "just" an application where Windows 8 running desktop-based applications.

With that conclusion I began to wonder what about the evolution of Windows. After reading the status of a college friend on Facebook, I am looking for fun if Windows 8 is already starting to circulate. I also finally found one iso file for the x86, although still called Windows Developer Preview, aka Windows 8 pre-Alpha build a new alias early stage (I estimate probably still going to release a new 2012 or 2013). Well, curious as to what would be the Windows 8? Here's my review of Windows 8.

Metro Style UI

Windows 8 will be based Metro UI style that has been carried by the Windows Phone 7. This makes Windows 8 is more optimized for touch-based interactions. Homescreen will be met by the tile-tile applications. Homescreen is also at the same time will take over the start menu. Start menu itself actually exist. But it will only contain the Start, Search, Share, Device, Settings. The way led to the start menu also no longer click the Start icon on the taskbar, but by bringing the mouse pointer (or mentapping when using the touch screen) bottom left corner of the screen. In addition to the start menu, it also displays the network indicator, battery, and when (date and time). On the homescreen, tile-tile is not just a shortcut to launch applications such as the usual icon on the desktop / startmenu on the previous windows, but can also be a widget to display certain information depending on the application.

Windows 8 Recommended specifications

It was the custom Windows development, the new level, the more severe the required hardware specifications (such as from Windows XP to Windows 7 where XP is capable of operating at 512MB RAM and the new 7 is capable of operating in the range of 1GB + +). But for Windows 8, proved to be the required specifications will be reduced because other than designed for PCs, according to Microsoft, Windows 8 is also well designed for the tablet and the rumors of Windows 8 will also be designed to operate on the ARM architecture (x86/x64 architecture not only made by Intel and AMD), although certainly not all applications can run on ARM unless the developer is concerned memporting application for Windows 8 version of the ARM.

Did you want to download windows 8free? Do not worry about its authenticity andguaranteed authentic original from Microsoft. It is rather strangebecause if you think about Windows 8 is not official release. But this timemy friend was able to taste the original windows8 preview ofMicrosoft's consumer version.

This means that it is still not final release, the consumer version ofthe preview is intended to provide feedback tothe consumer feedbackalias. Learning from the past and then, usually windows willgive a free license for cutomer who managed to find a bug orlack slit windows8.Ok, my friend can also enjoy thefree download version of Consumer Windows 8 Preview was counted quitepretty, free of charge.

The Origins of Android Kitkat

The origins of Android
The Android mobile operating system was first created by Android Inc., a company based in Palo Alto, California. They built the Android with the core Linux (kernel) program.

Google then bought all the stock Android Inc. in August 2005. The founder of Android was ultimately working for Google, as Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, and Chris White.

Google began seriously developing Android to get into the global mobile device market with the release of Android version 1.1 in March 2009. Android may be adopted by the manufacturer of a mobile device. In fact, he was adopted by television cameras and devices.

Google has released the source code (source code) Android for application developers and provides Google Apps online shop Play Store (formerly known as the Android Market).

Two months later, Google released the Android version 1.5 with the code name "Cupcake". From here starts the Android code name based on the name of the cake or dessert and alphabetically starting from letter C.

Here is the code name and the version of Android from time to time:
-Android 1.1
-Android 1.5 (Cupcake)
-Android 1.6 (Donut)
-Android 2.0/2.1 (Eclair)
-Android 2.2 (Froyo: Frozen Yogurt)
-Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
-Android 3.0/3.1 (Honeycomb)
-Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
-Android 4.1/4.2/4.3 (Jelly Bean)
-Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Google does not so choose the name "Key Lime Pie" for the latest version of Android. The company chose the name "KitKat" for the operating system Android version 4.4.

Decision on the use of the trademark name of Brown food products are viewed as a marketing coup some Nestle is known as producers of food products and beverages.

However, Google denied the presumption and stated that neither side gives paid for this decision.

"It's not a question of money, change, deal," said the Director of Partnerships of Android at Google, John Lagerling, told the BBC on Tuesday (3/9/2013). Instead, he asserted, this idea is completely done for something fun and unexpected.

Simon Myers, an expert and marketing consultant, cautions that there is potential in each deal done Google and Nestle. "If your brands connect with others, you must be associated with other brands, good and bad," said Myers.

If a brand's reputation got a problem, then the owner of the other brands will be affected his good name.

As a company and an internet service provider's software, Google does not escape the various controversies, ranging from privacy issues to patent disputes. The U.s. Government's own called Android as the operating system that many were infected with malicious programs than any other operating system.

While Nestle has faced criticism in the past when the company promoted baby powder to pegs in the developing countries.

Goodbye Key Lime Pie, welcome to KitKat

Rumors that circulated during this do indicate that the next version of Android will use the name with the letter "K". Well, the name that has been mentioned is the Key Lime Pie. In fact, Google employees have become accustomed to using the name of the Key Lime Pie to refer to the latest Android.

However, Lagerling tells, that name is not so used after the company realized that very few people really know the sense of Key Lime Pie.

"One of the snacks that we save in the Office kitchen to accompany our programmers worked until late at night is a KitKat. And, someone said, ' Hey, why don't we call it KitKat '. "

After the idea was crossed, Lagerling confessed to Google immediately contact the Nestle. The next day, the company that invited Switzerland native Google Android team in a conference phone call. Nestle said its willingness within 24 hours later.

"Frankly, we decided within the hour to say let's do it," stated the head of marketing for Nestle, Patrice Bula, told the BBC.

He acknowledged there was a risk the trademark KitKat would be tercoreng or even broken if operating system Android version 4.4 is found there is disorder or vulnerable to malicious programs. "Maybe I will be fired," said Bull, with a tone of facetious.

For Nestle, this is a new way of communicating rather than have to do marketing with traditional ways.

The executives of the two companies apparently held a secret meeting to discuss plans of cooperation during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, in February 2013. Until the end, with the help of the Android mascot logos coloured by KitKat on her chest.

"Secrecy is important to Google's strategy. Actually it does not leak, "shot the Bull.

Now, Nestle plans to hand out more than 50 million chocolate in the shape of the Android mascot KitKat to stores in 19 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, India, Japan, and Russia.

Android mascot statue KitKat currently plastered at the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, USA. Many Google employees who were shocked with the statue and found out that the code name of Android 2.4 is a KitKat.

"I think it's a big surprise for many people, including Googler (Google employee)," close Kagerling.
