How to Check Dofollow and Nofollow Links

How to Check  Dofollow and Nofollow Links

This post on how to check whether link is dofollow or nofollow allows you to easily check the kinds of links on webpages which can either be dofollow or nofollow. Before commenting/guest posting on blogs, posting on sites/forums in order to build backlinks, it'll be useful to check if the links on the  page are dofollow or nofollow. Link ‘rel attribute‘ defines the type of link and by checking this attribute you can tell one from the other. Unlike nofollow links which Google crawlers and other search engine bots do not follow, dofollow links have an HTML property of the tag rel=”dofollow” which tells Search Engine bots to crawl the links, thereby passing the link juice to the linked page.  By checking if other comments/links on the page are dofollow or nofollow, you can spend more time building quality dofollow backlinks to your blog, which can help in indexing your site, improve  your blog's rank in search engines and it's popularity. Other than using dofollow and nofollow links checker tools, here's how to check  dofollow and nofollow links on webpages using web browser addons or viewing the source code .

How to Check Whether Link is Dofollow or Nofollow

For Safari, Google Chrome or Opera, Download and install the Nofollow add-on on your web browser. The nofollow add-on automatically outlines all nofollow links on any web page.

For Mozilla Firefox, Download the NoDofollow add-on on your web browser.

  • After Installing, right click on any page, then select 'NoDofollow' as shown in the image below.

Any link on the page that is highlighted has a nofollow attribute. Also, on other pages you visit both old and new, all the nofollow links are highlighted.

  • To remove the highlighting of the nofollow links on the page, right click again and uncheck 'NoDofollow'.

Using source code

Another way you can check for dofollow and nofollow links on web pages is by viewing the source code. To do this,

  • Right click on the link, then select 'inspect  element' .
  • Go down to the bottom of the page where the source code is displayed  and view the link. If it has a rel="nofollow" then it is a nofollow link and a rel="dofollow" means it is a dofollow link .
